Dates

Automatic renewal

The service or agreement may continue for another term unless you cancel first.

Find the renewal date, cancellation window, and how cancellation must be submitted.

Cancellation window

A period of time when you can cancel or opt out under the document terms.

Missing the window can affect fees, renewal, eligibility, or access.

Deadline

The last date or time to act.

Confirm the timezone, delivery method, and whether the date is received-by or postmarked-by.

Effective date

The date when a change, rule, agreement, charge, or policy starts applying.

Compare it with any review period, cancellation deadline, or renewal date.

Grace period

Extra time after a due date before a penalty or next step may happen.

A grace period does not always remove the original due date or all fees.

Warranty expiration

The date when repair, replacement, or coverage rights may end.

Save proof of purchase and check whether claims must be filed before that date.

Money

Amount due

The document says money is owed.

Check whether the amount is total, minimum, past due, estimated, or only one part of the bill.

Minimum payment

The smallest payment the sender says is required for that period.

Paying only the minimum may leave a remaining balance, interest, or future charges.

Past due

A payment, form, or action is late according to the sender.

Look for late fees, service limits, collection steps, or how to dispute the status.

Prorated

An amount is adjusted for only part of a billing period or service period.

Confirm which dates were included and whether the charge is partial, credited, or refunded.

Action words

Action required

The sender expects you to do something, such as respond, pay, sign, submit, or update information.

Look for the exact task, deadline, and where the sender says to complete it.

Notice period

How far in advance one side must tell the other before a change, cancellation, move-out, or action.

Check how notice must be sent and whether it must be received before a specific date.

Required documentation

The sender says certain records, forms, photos, IDs, receipts, or proof must be provided.

Check the list, format, submission deadline, and whether copies are acceptable.

Accounts

Service limitation

The sender may reduce, pause, block, or restrict part of the service.

Look for what triggers the limitation and what restores normal access.

Legal wording

Continued use constitutes acceptance

The sender may treat using the service after a date as agreement to updated terms.

If you disagree, look for opt-out, cancellation, or contact instructions before the effective date.
